Poland

After the mandatory stale ham and cheese baguette was a sweaty bus ride to our first stop of the day. Auschwitz-Birkenau.

In a place like this words fail. In the end, there can only be a dreaded silence.

Next stop: Wieliczka Salt Mine.

This was really impressive. Down to a depth of 135m, the 2km route took us past many intricate sculptures made from rock salt and a huge ornate chapel. You come out feeling all icky and tasting of salt :)

So, icky and tired we caught the night train back to Vienna (again!).

Strawberry Fields Forever

Seven hours on a hot and sweaty is not my idea of fun, but when we met Maggi in Kraków it all seemed worth it :)

Maggi found us a room in a youth hostel, organised our sight seeing and our train tickets out of Poland! We'd only been there 10 mins.

After a much needed shower we headed to the old square for food, beer and Polish vodka. Don't remember going to bed, but I made it!
