The wiggly 35km drive from Picton to Havelock offered up more of the same stunning scenery with less effort and discomfort! After passing through Havelock, I drove along the crystal clear Pelorus River, star of the barrel scene in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, towards Nelson.
The snow capped mountains of the Kahurangi National Park came into view as I crossed the border between Marlborough and Nelson. Nelson is hailed as one of New Zealand's most liveable cities and the Craft Brewing Capital of New Zealand... Sounds like my kind of town :)
